Hello! I'm Ricardo Lira — a Brazilian illustrator, graphic design graduate and freelance artist who has spent a lifetime turning passion into art.
Drawing was never just a hobby; it was my first language. And like many artists of my generation, Pokémon was the spark, the universe that made me fall in love with character, colour, and adventure! That love never faded, for the last 10 years, I've been creating custom commissions for clients around the world, bringing their favourite Pokémon to life through my hands.
In 2016, I took that passion a step further and published a Pokédex-style book, a collection of original Pokémon illustrations that celebrated the creatures that shaped my childhood and my craft.
My roots are in traditional media: watercolour and graphite, the textures you can feel even through a screen and then, as a Pokémon, my work evolved. When I began reimagining classical masterpieces through the lens of pop culture — placing the icons of my childhood into the grand compositions of art history — something clicked, the expressive and the experimental became my new signature.
What I create is for those who grew up with these characters, who feel nostalgia not as sadness, but as warmth, reminder that the things we loved as children can be elevated, reinterpreted, and made timeless.
